This publication highlights the achievements of the ITC SheTrades and UPS Women Exporters Programme (2019-2024), which supports women entrepreneurs in accessing global markets. It showcases practical approaches to building export capacity, improving market access, and closing the gender gap in trade through skills development, coaching, and inclusive policy advocacy.

Featuring real-world case studies, data insights, and programme outcomes, the publication demonstrates how strategic public–private partnerships can create sustainable economic opportunities for women. It also outlines the programme’s evolution and future direction, including a new focus on putting women at the forefront of the digital economy.

This publication is intended for policymakers, business support organizations, development partners, and private sector actors committed to inclusive trade. It offers a model for impactful collaboration that others can adapt or scale.

Developed by the International Trade Centre’s SheTrades Initiative and The UPS Foundation, the programme is a benchmark in advancing women’s economic empowerment through trade.

About the SheTrades and UPS partnership

The project “SheTrades and UPS partnership”, funded by UPS Foundation and implemented by ITC SheTrades and UPS, aims to ultimately improve women entrepreneurs’ competitiveness to trade. The project will do so by providing women entrepreneurs and business support organisations with capacity building and a platform for best practices exchange. The project will work at the global level, through online activities, and at the national level, with in-country activities in Nigeria, Vietnam, Mexico and UAE.

Funded by The UPS Foundation, the SheTrades and UPS Women Exporters Programme (WEP) aims to facilitate the participation of women-led businesses in trade. The programme also extends its impact globally, by creating and disseminating online learning tools and resources.
