Agriprenuer boosts the promotion of Made in Rwanda products

'I have always been driven by the desire to contribute to the wellbeing of my community in the Shyogwe Sector. Through managing my own business, I promote Made in Rwanda products by producing value-added products. These includes mixed jam, passion fruit and pineapple juice – both squash and nectar. Through this, I also empower farmers and producers in the Muhanga District.

However, two main challenges that have slowed my progress in upscaling my business are financial management and marketing research. Since joining SheTrades Rwanda trainings on Finance Management, I have made significant changes to my business. I have now adopted financial book-keeping and client’s analysis tools to determine the value, growth and threats to my company.

Thanks to the support of SheTrades Rwanda and its partners including the Business Professionals Network (BPN) Rwanda, I continue to apply these tools in my daily business practices and management.

The coaching on marketing research helped me to re-evaluate my packaging and cost calculation for my strategy on market extension. As a result of this new strategy, I gained more clients and improved the efficiency of my packaging processes.

A benefit of participating in the SheTrades coaching and trainings is that I have increased my market outreach by 15%. I am selling my products to 5 supermarkets including Marine Supermarket and Sawa Citi. As a result, our actual sales are at 65% compared to the target fixed, of which SheTrades contribution is 5%.'
