Agriprenuer Secures Grant to Increase Capacity to Trade

Jacqueline is a producer of organic horticultural products and leads Champion Grocers – an agribusiness company operating in Nyamirambo Sector in Kigali. Through her business, Jacqueline scales up her operation by buying organic fruits and vegetables from local producers to sell to buyers across Kigali, Rwanda.

Jacqueline successfully secured financing by winning the Women Connect Event grant competition organized by the SheTrades Rwanda Project, Access Bank Rwanda, and AFAWA African Development Bank. Following her achievement, Jacqueline has increased her purchasing power by diversifying her supply chain and sourcing more from farmers cooperatives. As a result, she now supplies to more clients including supermarkets in Kigali.

“I have invested the money to purchase more from local producers and I have increased my sales by 20%. I am optimistic that things will continue to get better. My next goal is to launch organic strawberry jam, and increase the production capacity of my processing.”

By running her own business, she has been able to generate regular income to sustain the livelihood of not only her family, but her wider community to overcome poverty.

SheTrades Rwanda is funded by Enhanced Integrated Framework and Minicom Rwanda.
