The SheTrades in the Commonwealth project funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) will be implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) over two years from April 2018 – March 2020. Part of ITC’s SheTrades initiative, the project aims to increase economic growth and job creation in Commonwealth countries by enabling the increased participation of women-owned businesses in international trade.
This introductory event aims to give the project stakeholders and participants an overview of the project and its goals and activities to be undertaken as well as hearing from participants about the key issues and challenges they face.
At the end of the event, the participants will:
1. Understand the goals and objectives of the SheTrades Commonwealth project;
2. Understand what is competitiveness and the role of exports for Women owned businesses (WOBs – SMEs); and
3. Identify the knowledge and skills gaps WOBs face for effective exports.
Target Group: Export ready and near export ready WOBs – SMEs working in the agribusiness, textiles and apparel and services sectors, Business Support Organizations (BSOs), private sector companies and government representatives and other stakeholders involved in the implementation of the project.
